The Fischer Vineyard is a beautiful place, after passing through a long stretch uphill of scrub oak and small pines you arrive to the top of the hill and the small valley opens up with the vineyard stretching out. The vines are even more beautiful. Head trained and immaculately manicured, the fruit ripens early and is very consistently balanced with acid, fruit and sugar.

This marks the first production from Jeremy Fischer’s newly planted section of the Fischer Vineyard. In previous vintages we had been purchasing from his mother Lisa’s segment of the vineyard. We’re looking forward to keeping this vineyard on our permanent rotation. To plant his vineyard, Jeremy chose slightly more rugged terrain, deep red soils heavily mixed with chunks of quartz and shale.
After hand picking the fruit from head pruned vines, we take the extra time and considerable effort to hand sort the cold grapes. We’re looking to cull any excessively shriveled or under ripe berries. Straight from sorting we gently de-stem the grapes and allow them a prolonged cold soak prior to inoculation with select yeast strains and moving to small macro bins for punch downs and fermentation. Post fermentation, we moved with wine to barrels for aging. For this vintage we had the luxury of nearly 2 years of barrel age, followed by and additional 6 months of bottle age.
Beautiful aromas of fresh boysenberry, blackberry and deep ripe cherry waft from the glass, supported on a base of robust supple tannins and finishing in long lingering cocoa vanilla notes.
