More info
Another incredible Zinfandel from a very cool Old Vine Vineyard over 100 years old that was removed in 2018. Some of you may remember our Schmerier Vineyard Zinfandel from about a year ago. This is a completely different wine from a very old patch of vines on the same property. Sadly in 2018 the vineyard was sold and all of the vines on the property were bulldozed making way for another patch of almonds.
From scraggley old knarled vines we harvested very small and ripe clusters of Zin. The resulting wine was so intense that it we kept barrel aging the wine for a total of 34 months in barrel. The resulting wine is so silky smooth and beautiful, reminicent of our very first 2007 Black Label Zin.
Layers of bold black fruit linger on the nose mixing softly with robust but silky tannins and finishing in a lingering mix of sweet cigar box, oak and chocolate.
