Located just North of our Lockeford winery is the Borden Ranch sub appelllation. This area is unique with it's rolling hills and red clay soils. It's just a short drive, but feels considerably different from other areas of the Lodi Appellation. Back in 2019, our friend Robert Pirie approached us with a couple tons of fruit from the field. He had chosen the perfect spot, just on top of a soft hill, the region of the vineyard received less water than areas surrounding it and yielded more concentrated flavors. We fell in love with the wine, it absolutely gushed with berry fruit notes and produced bold but approachable wines with beautifully deep color.
Enjoy aromas of blackberry, violet, and warm vanilla. Flavors of berry compote, leather, white pepper, and toasted caramel round out the palate with soft yet substantial tannins, balanced acid, and a smooth velvety finish.
