2023 Pinot Noir

Meacci Hills Vineyard

Vintage Notes:

The Borden Ranch is just about 7 miles directly north of our Lockeford winery and shows the diversity of the soils of the Lodi Appellation. This area is a collection of steep, shallow hills bracketing the wash of a small seasonal river.

The Meacci Hills vineyards sits straddling two of these small hills and covers a range of terse soils ranging from clays to rocky. The section we chose to pick sits on a small spur of the hill where the vines are more naturally restrained and even with irrigation the fast driaining soils keep the vines struggling (a good thing). In 2023 we hand picked early in the morning around mid September and immediatly destemmed to small macro bins. After a 24hr cold soak we innoculated and slowly fermented for 7 days before pressing off, settling and racking to barrel.
