Something happened in the mid 1990's that was good and bad for Zinfnadel. A new wine hit the market and took it by storm: White Zinfandel. At that point Dry Rosé was almost unheard of and consumers were just coming off a short fast spike of consuming sweet wine coolers. While the White Zinfandel quickly fell out of favor, it's legacy stayed with us. All that demand for Zinfandel grapes kept these old vineyards in the ground long enough for us to discover what a wonderful red wine can be made and just how distinctly special old vines are.
Fast forward to today and many other varietals of winegrapes have been featured as Dry Rosé including our Grenache, Barbera and Syrah - don't get me wrong. I love these wines for what they bring to the aromatic table, but Zinfandel Rosé is just a different animal, it's lively, energetic and exciting on the palate.
