Another new varietal for Jeremy Wine Co. Late last year a friend of mine reached out strongly encouraging me to take a look at the Gruner Veltliner vineyard he's been making wine from. While there I also spotted a couple rows of Grenache Gris on the edge - I love Grenache as a red wine and rosé and am cronically curious about new clones of grapes, so we committed to it for the 2025 harvest.
Grenache Gris originates from southern France and some areas of Spain. Thought to be a clonal variation of red Grenache, the white grapes ripen with just a hint of grey/pink hues on the skins leading to their "gris (grey)" naming.
